Should I let my pet pass away naturally at home, or should I choose euthanasia?
It is completely understandable to wish for your beloved companion to pass away peacefully at home. Unfortunately, this is often not the case. Many animals experience pain and suffering during their final days, which can often be prevented through timely euthanasia. We encourage you to discuss the right time with your veterinarian, who can guide you based on your pet's condition and quality of life.
What are my options when my pet passes away?

Arrange a respectful cremation through CREMONA.
○
Bury your pet with the permission of the Veterinary Administration of the Republic of Slovenia.
○
Leave your pet with your veterinarian. In this case, the remains will be collected by a licensed veterinary disposal service and processed through industrial rendering.
May I be present during the cremation?
Yes. By prior arrangement, you are welcome to be present during your beloved companion's cremation.
May I place keepsakes with my pet during cremation?
Yes. Keepsakes made from natural, biodegradable materials may accompany your companion during cremation, such as: paper, wood, leather, cotton, flowers, other natural materials. Unfortunately, artificial materials such as plastic, rubber, nylon, or similar items cannot be included.
What happens to my pet before cremation?
Until the cremation takes place, your companion is respectfully cared for and kept under appropriate refrigerated conditions.
Will I really receive only my pet's ashes after a private cremation?
Yes. At CREMONA, every private cremation is protected by our unique identification (ID) system, ensuring complete traceability throughout every stage of the process. You can learn more in the ID System section.
How long does the process take?
The waiting time depends primarily on when your pet passes away. In most cases, the ashes are ready within approximately 7 to 14 days.
What happens to animals that undergo industrial rendering?
In industrial rendering facilities:

Animal remains may be processed into Category 1 meat and bone meal, which is used as an alternative fuel in waste-to-energy plants and cement factories.
○
They may also be used for the production of biogas, another alternative energy source.
What is the difference between a individual and a communal cremation?
○
Individual Cremation: Only your beloved companion's ashes are returned to you, together with a cremation certificate, using your chosen return method.
○
Communal Cremation: The ashes are not returned. Instead, they are respectfully scattered in the crematorium's communal memorial resting place. You will receive a cremation certificate confirming that the cremation has been carried out.
Can I have memorial jewellery or a memorial diamond made later?
Yes. As long as you have your companion's ashes, memorial jewellery or a memorial diamond can be created at any time.
How do I choose the correct urn size?
The appropriate urn size depends on your companion's weight and size. We will be happy to help you select the most suitable urn.
How can I receive my pet's urn?
You may choose one of the following options:

Personal collection at our premises by appointment.
○
Delivery by registered post with careful handling.
○
Delivery by courier service.
○
Personal delivery arranged by CREMONA.
